Karen Bates was on horseback shortly after learning how to walk. Mindy was a wonderful grade mare who was kind and as gentle as can be with a young and enthusiastic want to be equestrienne on her back. At 4 years old Karen got her first pony, Cindy. Karen and Cindy had many wonderful adventures together. At the age of 13 Karen got her first horse, a 4 year old Polish Arabian mare named Pinky. Pony Club and all that goes with it was the focus as well as many lessons with eventing and dressage instructors. After getting married and having children Karen took some time to focus on her family. During those years Karen remained connected to the horse world riding for others and volunteering for horse rescues. Then in October 2015 Karen was fortunate enough to be at a friend's saddle fitting session with Terry Peiper, CSE and immediately saw the impact that saddle fit had on the horse and rider and was soon in a Saddle Fit 4 Life course earning her CEE certification. With a degree in education, teaching others what they need to know about saddle fit is the perfect job for Karen.
